Washington State Motorcycle Press Trip
Ride the Pacific Northwest
Experience scenic Washington State on Motorcycle

 September 25 – October 1, 2005:  Two-Wheel Press Tour

Take on some of the best-engineered roads for motorcyclists in Washington state and see the vibrant scenery, sites and attractions that the region has to offer.

Guide Tom Mehren, with SoundRIDER! website, is an experienced rider with extensive knowledge of roads in the state of Washington and brings first-hand tips and insider information to share.

 Bike rentals are included.

Highlights of the Motorcycle tour include:

·         Cascade Crossing

4      Beginning at Snoqualmie Falls, journey through the North Cascades and ride the Cascade Loop into the Lake Chelan area.

4      The Loop is a 400-mile self-guided driving tour from the waters of the Puget Sound, across the Cascade Mountains, to the vast, sun-baked orchards of the Columbia River Plateau.

4      View a towering mass of granite spires and pre-historic glaciers amidst lush evergreens.  Swim in a sea of wildflowers and peer into the smooth crystal waters of an alpine lake.

·         Water, Wheat and Wine

4      Washington has numerous hydroelectric dams, acres of wheat fields and is the 4th largest wine growing region in the world.  Wind past water, golden amber wheat and orchards of wine-producing grapes to view the largest single power producer in the world.

4      The hydroelectric Grand Coulee Dam harnesses its power from the mighty Columbia River and is the greatest source of energy among all the rivers in America.

·         Columbia River Gorge

4      Travel through the second largest basalt plateau in the world.  Carved by ice age floods, the sculpted beauty of this high desert land includes towering rock formations and steep gorges that straddle the great Columbia River and its tributaries.

4      View the sun-soaked, red canyons of columnar basalt and monuments of rock outlined against a vibrant blue sky.

4      Experience the Maryhill area, it’s legacy, world class museum and the full-size replica of Stonehenge. This is your chance to ride the Maryhill Loops Road, Washington’s first paved road now closed to the public.

·         Volcano Country

4      Washington’s volcano region is a one-of-a-kind in the contiguous United States.  The beauty of active Mt. St. Helens and sleeping Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams provides the perfect end to the two-wheel journey.

4      These three volcanoes and a gorge are awe inspiring and situated between the urban centers of Vancouver to the south, and Seattle and Tacoma to the north.  Also bordering to the south is a great gorge, thousands of feet deep in spots, carved by the Columbia River.

4      Ride FR25, a road that is legendary with motorcyclists, leading to a southward view of Mt. St. Helens.
