The Sunset Restaurant Hosts 2005 Malibu Wine Classic on Saturday, April 2:
First Time Ever Open to the Public

Malibu, CA, March 19,  2005 -- The 2nd Annual Malibu Wine Classic will hold its first wine tasting open to the public, and the first wine event of this scale in Malibu, with approximately 60 wineries pouring their wines at the Sunset Restaurant, 6800 Westward Beach Road between Zuma Beach and Point Dume, on Saturday afternoon, April 2 from 1:30 to 5:30 PM.

The Malibu Classic showcases the outstanding wines of the Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and Ventura areas, and will also feature tastings of signature dishes from more than a dozen of the area's top restaurants, followed by a charity auction to benefit Childhelp USA, a statewide charity which seeks housing for abused children

Last year, more than 40 wineries participated in the Malibu Wine Classic. This year nearly all the commercial wineries in Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties are participating. Organizers credit the film "Sideways" with making wine tasting more popular than ever.

Newly renovated with incredible ocean views and breathtaking sunsets, The Sunset Restaurant features extraordinary service and an exciting kitchen headed by chef Shawn Davis, formerly of the Argyle Hotel, Union and Geoffrey’s

The Sunset’s menu highlights a delightful and sophisticated combination of New American comfort food crossed with Pan-Asian flair and creativity. There’s a treat for every palate and a stunning setting in which to savor every bite of it. Bon Appetit’s Restaurant Reporter recently named The Sunset Restaurant one of the top eight most romantic restaurants in the country.

Advance tickets are $50 through March 31, and are available at www.malibuwineclassic.com or by calling 1-866-462-2838. Tickets are $70 at the door.

For more information about the Sunset Restaurant or to make reservations, call (310) 589-1007 or visit their web site at www.thesunsetrestaurant.com.
